Boys soccer: Richmond earns NCC win

MUNCIE, Ind. – Richmond put itself in position to at least share the North Central Conference title after defeating Muncie Central 4-2 in penalty kicks Tuesday.

Marion suffered its first NCC loss 3-2 against Huntington North Tuesday, according to the Marion Chronicle Tribune.

Kevin Mendoza scored twice in regulation as the teams were tied 2-2.

Mendoza, Omarr Melendez, Evan Pennington and Aqib Mohamed each converted a goal during the shootout.

Richmond (13-5, 4-1) plays Saturday at Huntington North.

Hatch hat trick leads ‘Dogs

David Hatch completed a hat trick and Trevor Miller added two goals Tuesday as Centerville defeated Muncie South 7-2.

Conner Dillon and Cody Weiss each had a goal and an assist.

The Bulldogs also defeated Wapahani 10-1 on Monday.

Volleyball: Patriots sweep Spartans

LIBERTY, Ind. – Carlea Handley had 11 kills, seven aces and 11 digs as Union County swept Connersville 25-15, 25-12, 27-25 Tuesday.

Allison Kassens had 10 kills and eight aces, while Ella Dils had three blocks and Bella Pavey had 27 assists.

Tigers win

HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – Kendell Combs had 15 kills and 11 assists as Hagerstown defeated Blue River 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 Tuesday.

Ashley Dale had nine kills and Tawni Brown had six. Anna Oakes had 10 digs and Hannah Rogers had 10 assists.

Hagerstown (15-6) plays at Northeastern on Thursday.

JV score: Hagerstown won 25-10, 25-17; is now 16-2.

Eagles sweep Indians

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln defeated Union City 25-14, 25-13, 25-17 Tuesday.

Tayler Pennington had 13 service points and four kills for the Golden Eagles (16-6, 3-1), Jordan Bryant had 11 kills, and two blocks, Sarah Maley had eight service points and four digs and Haley Hall had 11 digs and an ace.

“We did a really good job of serving and our serve receive was really solid,” Lincoln coach Greg Seidner said. “We just played well.”

Lincoln hosts Rushville tonight.

Patriots win

Tri-Village’s Raya Mikesell had 34 assists and Heather Ferris added 13 digs, 21 kills and five blocks in a 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 12-25, 16-14 CCC victory over Twin Valley South Tuesday.

Rachel Ferris had 24 digs for the Patriots (11-8, 8-1), while Krystal Falknor added 14 digs and 16 kills and Jenna Cline had six kills.

Tri-Village plays at Tri-County North on Thursday.

Seton falls in 5

LEWISVILLE, Ind. – Seton Catholic fell 11-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 15-8 on Monday to Tri High.

Maleiah Thompson had 12 kills and five aces for the Cardinals, while Megan Schroeder had 43 digs and Abby Dargie 37 assists.

Seton (11-6) is at the Rising Sun Invitational on Saturday.

JV score: Tri won 25-8, 25-8. Seton leaders: Makayla Thompson 2 kills, 8 digs; Hannah Burge 4 digs.

Raiders down Rockets

Shenandoah defeated Union 25-22, 25-12, 25-22 on Monday.

Courtney Kinnaman had 11 kills and seven digs for the Rockets, while DeAnn Kauffman added nine kills and 12 digs and Lisa Rodriguez finished with 20 assists.

Union (16-9) plays Wednesday at Muncie Burris.

Boys tennis: Tigers win 5-0

HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – Ben Tinkle, Jonah McKissick and Nick Arnold earned singles victories as Hagerstown completed its regular season with a 5-0 victory against Knightstown Tuesday.

Jordan Auker and Isaiah Neal won at No. 1 doubles, while Henrik Stevens and Evan Hoover won at No. 2.

SINGLES — No. 1 – Tinkle (HAG) def. Edwards 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 – McKissick (HAG) def. Milton 6-0, 6-2; No. 3 – Arnold (HAG) def. Haase 6-1, 6-2.

DOUBLES — No. 1 – Auker and Neal (HAG) def. Roberts and Hagy 7-5, 6-1; No. 2 – Stevens and Hoover (HAG) def. Adams and Sather 6-1, 6-1.

Cross country: Fowler, Bocanegra win

PARKER CITY, Ind. – Union City’s Seth Fowler won the boys race and Alexi Bocanegra won the girls at Tuesday’s Randolph County Championship race as the Indians finished second in both races. Monroe Central won both team titles.

Centerville swept Dennis on Monday in volleyball, winning the eighth-grade match 25-8, 25-11 and the seventh-grade match 25-9, 25-19.

Morgan Toschlog had four assists for Centerville’s seventh-grade team, while Sierra Wandersee had seven aces and Shelby Koch added five.

Sarah Rohe led Centerville’s eighth grade with six aces and Brooke Bailey had five.

Tigers win

Hagerstown’s seventh-grade team remained unbeaten in football with Monday’s 50-26 win over Knightstown.

Mason Hicks had four touchdowns and threw to Cody Swimm for another score.

Ryan Golliher ran for two touchdowns.

Cameron Purtha had an interception for the Tigers’ eighth-grade team in a loss to Knightstown.
