Girls basketball: Cougars edge Red Devils

GREENFIELD, Ind. – Greenfield-Central edged Richmond 57-53 on Tuesday.

Destiny Perkins netted a game-high 28 points for the Red Devils, while Mackenzie Taylor scored 15.

Madison Wise scored 27 points to lead the Cougars.

“We’re really proud of the effort,” said RHS coach Casey Pohlenz. “They kept fighting. It took us a little while to get going.

“It was nice to see them really battle. We just can’t have the lulls that got us behind.”

Richmond (3-2) plays host tonight to Franklin County.

Kauffman leads Rockets past Golden Eagles

MODOC, Ind. – Union picked up a 49-41 victory over Lincoln Tuesday.

DeAnn Kauffman had 14 points for the Rockets (5-2) and Faithlan Ellis was right behind her with 13 points.

Jordan Bryant had a game-high 16 points to lead the Golden Eagles (2-4) while Kristen Meal added 13.

The Rockets host Muncie Burris Thursday. The Golden Eagles are home opposite Winchester Saturday.

Trey Griffin connected on seven 3-pointers for 21 points, with Tylee Hampton and Bryson Perkins each scoring eight.

Hagerstown’s eighth-grade team defeated Driver 57-46 Monday.
