The Red Devils finish the regular season 16-10 and 8-6 in the North Central Conference.
New Castle clinched the NCC title by sweeping Kokomo with a 9-1 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader and a 5-0 shutout in Game 2.
“It was nice to go out with a winning record,” Amyx said. “It’s the first time that we’ve competed for the top spot in the conference up until the last week of the season. We made improvements, but we’re not where we want to be yet.
” … Moving forward, we know the things we need to work on, and hopefully we’re back in the hunt next year.”
