Freshman’s 3 gives Tigers win

MUNCIE, Ind. – Freshman Gabby Willis drilled a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left on Wednesday, giving Hagerstown a 42-41 victory at Muncie Burris.
Willis had three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.

Madison Houck led the Tigers with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Savannah Houck scored seven and Courtney Rogers added five.

“A great victory for us tonight. Madison Houck played extremely well on both sides of the ball, and what a big shot by Gabby Willis to win the ballgame,” Hagerstown coach Chris Oliger said by phone.

The Tigers (9-7) were without Hayley Rogers, who was sick.

Hagerstown travels Tuesday to TEC foe Union City.

Knights town Rockets

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Four Knights scored in double figures Wednesday to help Northeastern snap a three-game losing streak with a 72-63 victory over Union.

Hannah Adams led the Knights (7-9) with 16 points, Marissa Webb added 15, Stephanie Adams scored 12 and Kelsey Whirley had 11.

“The biggest thing is it’s nice for the girls to get the victory,” Northeastern coach Max Adams said. “It was nice tonight. We’ve come out on the losing end of a lot of close ones. The girls stayed with it in the second half and it was a good motivator for the next game.”

Union (12-3) also had four in double figures with Lisa Rodriguez leading the way with 20 points, while Rylee Davis scored 11 and Jae Taft and Faith Thompson each scored 10.

The Knights host Cowan Saturday for Senior Day and the JV team will play Randolph Southern.

Union hosts Centerville on Tuesday.

Patriots fall

OLDENBURG, Ind. – Leah Gabbard scored 10 points for Union County on Tuesday as the Patriots fell to Oldenburg Academy 45-26.

Union County (2-15) plays host Tuesday to TEC foe Lincoln.

Middle school basketball

Northeastern 14-0

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Northeastern’s eighth-grade boys basketball improved to 14-0 with a 48-41 victory over Winchester Driver on Wednesday.
Driver won the seventh-grade game 49-42.

Dylan Baker scored 24 points for Northeastern seventh grade.

Centerville wins

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Centerville defeated Seton Catholic 41-27 on Wednesday.

Noah Hartley led Seton with 13 points.

Warriors sweep Knights

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Union City improved to 12-0 in seventh-grade girls basketball action with a 45-11 victory at Northeastern on Tuesday, while the eighth-graders also won 43-15.

Hagerstown sweeps Centerville

Hagerstown defeated Centerville 41-24 in boys basketball action on Tuesday.

Jared Andis was the high scorer for Hagerstown with 11 points, and added seven rebounds and five steals.

Trey Kelley had 10 points, Evan Hoover had seven and Brett Burns and Zac Jones each scored four.

Hagerstown’s seventh grade completed the sweep with a 47-37 win as Jalen Oliver scored 11 points and had seven steals.

Kaleb Slagle added 10 points, with Owen Gohiller tossing in eight.

Tigers drop 2

MODOC, Ind. – The Hagerstown eighth-grade girls basketball team fell 32-17 at Union on Wednesday.

Hannah Rogers led Hagerstown (0-2) with five points.

Hagerstown dropped its season opener 36-2 earlier this week.
