La Vergne lost a heartbreaker Friday night in overtime, falling to Ravenwood 30-27.

Avery Jankowski’s 10-yard TD pass to Austin Percy on the Raptors’ first play in overtime ended the game and answered Alex McMillan’s field goal during the Wolverines’ overtime possession.

Van Jefferson led Ravenwood (3-0) with 11 catches for 125 yards. . Jankowski was 17-of-27 passing for 192 yards.

Ravenwood led 10-0 before La Vergne quarterback C.J. Fore scored on a run

Stewarts Creek 32

Stewarts Creek led 32-14 early in the third quarter after Jasper Snowden’s 60-yard TD run, but Gallatin answered with 41 unanswered to keep the Red Hawks winless.

Stewarts Creek was clutch in the first half, converting 7-of-9 on third downs and 2-for-2 on fourth down in the first half, but the Green Wave finally stopped the Red Hawks on a fourth down in the second half.

Mason Hall was 13 of 14 passing for 202 yards to lead the Red Hawks (0-4).

Fayetteville 28,


Middle Tennessee Christian School (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season, falling to undefeated Fayetteville 28-12.

MTCS trailed only 14-12 at halftime, but the Cougars were blanked in the second half. Fayetteville pulled away with a pick-6 and another TD late in the fourth quarter.

For MTCS, Justin Winn was 10-of-20 passing for 143 yards and a 38-yard TD toss to David Capps on the final play of the first half.

Tanner Green added 27 rushing yards and one score.

Peyton Buckner led the MTCS defense with eight tackles.

Lancaster Chr. 40,

Houston Co. 29

Matt Williams was 17-of-25 passing for 372 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions to lead the Knights (3-0) to the win.

Jared Beard had 249 yards receiving and three touchdowns.


Tigers reach region

The Central Magnet boys’ golf team qualified for the Region 4-A/AA tournament by finishing third in the District 8-A/AA Friday with a total score of 338.

Macon County won the district with a 293. Goodpasture finished third with a 310.

The Tigers were led by Colton Miller (82), Austin Tipton (84), Jordan Reynolds (86) and T.C. Hayes (86).

The district tournament was played at White Plains Golf Course in Cookeville, which is also where the region tournament will be played Sept. 23.
