The inaugural state wrestling team duals will start Wednesday, and eight area teams will take part.
The drawings were held this past weekend, with higher seeds hosting regional quarterfinals.
Locations for regional semifinals and finals will be determined, and the state championships will be Feb. 9 at Ohio State’s St. John Arena.
New Lexington was voted the No. 2 seed, Sheridan No. 3 and Morgan No. 5 in Division II, Region 13. The Generals take on No. 6 seed Vincent Warren at 6 p.m. at New Lexington Middle School, with the Panthers facing No. 7 seed Vinton County 20 minutes afterward.
The Raiders will wrestle No. 4 seed Gallia Academy at 6 p.m. at Athens High School. Top-seeded Athens faces No. 8 seed Fairfield Union after the first match.
Tri-Valley earned the No. 2 seed in Division II, Region 12 and hosts No. 7 seed Philo after the match between No. 3 seed Lisbon Beaver Local and No. 6 seed Buckeye Local, which starts at 6 p.m.
Also in that region, No. 9 seed Maysville and No. 8 seed Meadowbrook face off at Steubenville. The winner advances to see the top-seeded Big Red 20 minutes later.
In Division III, Region 21, No. 8 seed West Muskingum travels to top-seeded Bloom-Carroll as that match follows No. 4 seed Nelsonville-York and No. 5 seed Wellston, which starts at 6 p.m.
Winners advance to the regional semifinals Jan. 30. Admission is $7 for the first two rounds of the tournament. No passes will be accepted.
Zanesville, Crooksville and John Glenn are not taking part in the event.
