THE WINNER: Tyler Scaife


School: Hall (Little Rock, Ark.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Guard
Height: 5-foot-9

Athletic achievement: She led the Warriors to a 30-2 record and the Class 6A state championship this past season. The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, Scaife averaged 23.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game. A four-time All-State selection, she was MVP of the state title game and has been chosen to play in both the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Game.

Academic excellence: Scaife has maintained a B average.

Exemplary character: She has volunteered locally on behalf of the Salvation Army and a food bank.


“Tyler Scaife can do it all,” said Steve Wiedower, head coach at Russellville (Ark.). “She’s great off the dribble, she can make the 3-pointer. She’s the type of kid who can take over any game.”

THE FUTURE: Scaife will attend Rutgers University.
