Autauga Academy graduate O.J. Howard’s missed day of college wasn’t wasted.
Howard, who started class at Alabama this month, won the AISA lineman of the year today at a banquet in downtown Montgomery.
Howard had 702 yards and 10 touchdowns receiving, plus 46 tackles and five sacks, this season. He played in just seven games due to a knee injury.
Howard is the nation’s No. 1 tight end prospect and was a three-time All-State player for the Generals.
He’s the first player from Autauga — in any sport — to win a major state award.
Tuscaloosa Academy offensive lineman Terrell Bush and Restoration linebacker Cortney Wilbanks were also finalists. Both are juniors.
