By most accounts, 3 Ninjas was a terrible movie.
Users give the 1992 flick 4.8 stars (out of 10) on IMDB.com. It has a 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Perhaps the best thing about 3 Ninjas is that it spawned one of the best nicknames in high school — and soon college — sports. Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kans.) point guard Lourawls Nairn is better known as Tum Tum, the name of the youngest brother in 3 Ninjas.
“He ate a lot of candy and I ate a lot of candy,” Nairn told the Louisville Courier-Journal. “So my mom started calling me ‘Tum Tum.'”
Nairn, a native of the Bahamas, moved to the United States five years ago. The No. 61 point guard in the class of 2014 narrowed his list of potential schools to Oklahoma, Minnesota and Indiana on Tuesday.
