Freshmen Alexa Weis and Emma Barney continued to headline the postseason scoring Saturday as Oak Harbor’s girls soccer team defeated Liberty-Benton 2-1 in a Division III regional final.
The Rockets (19-1-1) play Gates Mills Hawken (15-1-1) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at a site to be determined. Liberty-Benton (18-1-1) hadn’t lost this season.
Barney scored the go-ahead goal Saturday with 5 minutes, 48 seconds remaining in the game. Weis scored off an assist from Barney to tie the game with about seven minutes left in the first half.
“It means a lot to go this far,” Barney said. “We’ve been working at it. To accomplish it is the best feeling in the world.”
