Baseball roundup: Dover's Chase Beebe tosses first no-hitter

Dover High School’s baseball team ended its regular season in grand fashion on Thursday.

Senior pitcher Chase Beebe tossed the first no-hitter of his career as the host Dragons defeated Millbrook, 1-0. Beebe had ten strikeouts and two walks.

“He was changing speeds,” Dover coach James Smith said. “The curveball was fantastic and it was really just biting down today. The kids were way out in front of it. The fastball was really popping and peppering (catcher Tye Mill’s) glove.”

Tyler Ferguson’s sixth-inning RBI single scored Eli Vincent for the game’s only run. Vincent had doubled earlier in the frame.

Millbrook pitcher Chris Camaj had three strikeouts and one walk.

Late Wednesday, Millbrook lost to host Wallkill, 31-2.

John Jay 8, Carmel 5 — Blake Keenan gave the Patriots the lead for good with a three-run home run in the top of the ninth.

The homer came after John Jay took a two-run lead in top of the eighth inning, only to see Carmel tie it up again.

“Blake Keenan really picked us up and put us on his back today,” John Jay coach Tom O’Hare said.

Matt Lisella (6-1) earned the win in relief of Tyler Kardas, who pitched six innings. Tommy Corcoran earned his second save, pitching the bottom of the ninth.

John Jay (14-5) will finish the regular season at Mahopac today.

Rhinebeck 5, Germantown 4 — The Hawks improved to 12-5 with the road win behind Joe Naglieri’s two runs and two RBI and Will Burns’ one run and one RBI.

Burns was the winning pitcher in relief of Josh Hanaburgh. In all, Rhinebeck held the hosts to three hits, but made four errors.

Rhinebeck will face Spackenkill in the semifinals of the Mid-Hudson Athletic League tournament on Saturday in Pine Plains.

Mahopac 11, Beacon 9 — Nick Golembiewski had a hit, two RBI, and a run scored but the host Bulldogs lost to the Indians in nine innings.
Onteora 8, Pine Plains 2 — John Wheeler had two hits, but the Bombers took a MHAL loss in Boiceville.

New Paltz 9, James I. O’Neill 2 — Chase Sarvis had two hits and two RBI as the Huguenots prevailed at home late Wednesday.
