Patrick Schetter’s two-run single in the top of the sixth inning helped propel the Beacon High School baseball team to a 7-5 win over host Hendrick Hudson on Friday, the Bulldogs earning their second straight Section 1 Conference I League C title.

“Goal No. 1 is always to win the league,” said head coach Bob Atwell, whose Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 13-7 record and a 6-2 league mark. “Patrick put it best: ‘That’s just No. 1.’ “

Schetter was 2 for 4, including those two RBI. Teammate Sami Dika added a 2-for-4, two-RBI performance.

Ryan Frost picked up the win, fanning four batters in five innings before Bobby Winkelmann earned his first save of the season.

Our Lady of Lourdes 4, Arlington B 2 – Tim Costigan’s RBI double highlighted a three-run fifth inning that helped give the Warriors a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Costigan was 2 for 3 with a single, double and run scored. Connor Connaughton was 2 for 2 with a sacrifice fly and two RBI.

Terrance McCabe pitched a complete game for the Warriors (14-5), allowing five hits and two runs. Brian Monroe started and took the loss for Arlington B (9-9). He was relieved by Paul Sevigny in the fifth inning.

Mahopac 3, John Jay 1 — Doug Elser tossed six innings, striking out six and allowing eight hits, but he took the loss in the Patriots’ last game of the regular season on the road.

Mike Luzzi went 2 for 3 with a double for John Jay (14-6).

Onteora 8, Pine Plains 2 — John Wheeler had two hits, but the Bombers took the loss in Boiceville late Thursday.

Softball

Lourdes gave up three runs in the top of the first inning but surged ahead to beat Arlington B 7-3.

Rebecca Sparks went 3 for 4 in the winning effort, with three RBI and a solo home run in the third inning, and Chloe Weeks went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Meghan Meyers earned the win, allowing four hits in a complete-game effort.

Lourdes (15-1) will host Poughkeepsie on Tuesday.

Kayla Andrews drove in two runs for Arlington B (10-8).

Pawling 3, John F. Kennedy 0 – The hometown Tigers concluded their regular season with an 11-9 overall record.

Sandy Spicer and Natalie Grillo (three RBI) each turned in a 2-for-3 effort for Pawling.

Hendrick Hudson 8, Beacon 7 — The Bulldogs’ season ended with an eight-inning loss in Montrose, despite tying the score in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out hit from Morgan Flamholtz.

Kristen Yanarella, who scored that tying run, went 4 for 4 with five RBI and two runs, and Flamholtz added two hits and two RBI. Hope Angeloni chipped in with two hits and a run. Leah Giavatto doubled, as did Yanarella.

Beacon finished the season 3-17.

Carmel 5, Arlington 0 — The Admirals (10-9) were held to three hits at home.

Arlington will face Hendrick Hudson at Walter Panas on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

New Paltz 18, Highland 8 — Brittany Ormond was 4 for 4 with a triple, two doubles and four RBI as the host Huguenots defeated the Huskies late Thursday.

Lea Jones was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double for New Paltz (6-8). Bridget Bennett had a double and two singles. New Paltz pitcher Ally Pannuto had five strikeouts and a walk.

Shannon Ward had six strikeouts over four innings for Highland.
