Winterset junior Mariah Criswell has verbally committed to play basketball for Northern Iowa beginning with the 2015-16 season.

“It just seems like the perfect fit,” Criswell said. “I love the coaching staff and UNI is a great place to pursue my major in education.”
Criswell helped lead the Huskies last season to their first state tournament berth in 60 years.
She averaged 14.8 points and shot 43.5 percent from the 3-pt. arc.
She earned second team Class 4-A All-State honors from the the Des Moines Register as a sophomore. Mariah was also on the IGCA and IBCA All-district and All-Region teams as well as a unanimous first team selection for the Racoon River Conference.
“UNI is getting a quality player, person, and leader,” Winterset coach Doug Messerschmitt said. “I am very proud of Mariah.”
