Nothing comes between Ferguson (Miami, Fla.) shortstop Chris Bec and his love for the game. Well, almost nothing. Bec admitted he has an intense affection for sneakers – going strong since age 8 (he’ll be a senior this fall). When asked how many pairs he owns, guessed “50…or so”.
Bec said when his dollars aren’t steered toward his Scion FR–S or buying baseball gear, he’ll cop a fresh pair of kicks. Among his favorites, these five sneakers make the cut.
1. NIKE AIR YEEZY TAN
Bec: I like the material and the pink insole. It’s a classy shoe. I wear these with khakis, any color shirt and a watch that matches the shirt.
2. 1999 AIR JORDAN “OREO”
Bec: These were given to me by my dad. I never wear them – I just have them in my closet.
3. AIR JORDAN XI RETRO “SPACE JAM”
Bec: These are my favorite shoes. The patent leather stands out. I wear them twice a week. You can wear them to do anything – to go to the mall, to go to a party or to play basketball. To dress them up, I’ll pair with jeans, a shirt that matches the shoe and a watch.
4. AIR JORDAN XIII “RAY ALLEN”
Bec: I like the white and green. I usually don’t wear these shoes. I know how to wear them, but I just don’t because they’re really expensive, and I don’t want to mess them up.
5. NIKE AIR YEEZY 2
Bec: Kanye West is the designer. They’ve got these spikes in the back, and they’re different.
