Benton Central's nine-run last at-bat stuns Carroll


FLORA – Benton Central capped off a crazy game with a nine-run seventh inning, then held off Carroll’s baseball team for a 12-10 victory.

Carroll took a 6-1 lead and led 7-3 going into the seventh.

James Smith went 5-for-5 with three RBIs, leading the Bison. Henry Fisher went 3-for-5, while Sam Smith and Cole Jackson each drove in two runs for BC.

Cameron Crume and Ryan Spesard each had two hits and combined for five RBIs and Brandon Dillon drove in two for the Cougars.

FISHERS – Peter Ripke made sure his two-run homer in the first inning would stand up, holding Fishers to six hits.

AVON – McCutcheon took the lead on a two-run single by Jordan Young, scoring Carson Evans and Justin Curry, on his way to a four-RBI night.

VEEDERSBURG – Kyle Miller’s RBI double gave the Class A No. 9 Cavaliers a 3-2 lead in the fifth and he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth.

RENSSELAER – Skylar Sanders went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Cody Bryant allowed seven hits and one earned run for the Rebels (9-12).

Crawfordsville 5

N. Montgomery 4

CRAWFORDSVILLE – Cameron Monroe scored twice with two hits for 3A No. 7 Crawfordsville.

Baylee Adams doubled twice and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for North Montgomery.

CARMEL – Hunter Bridge singled in Shelby Kyle for the lone Raider run, but Riley Tejcek’s three RBIs provided all the offense the Greyhounds needed.

West Lafayette 3

Devin Hainje, Molly Erb and Meghan Moody had two hits apiece for the Red Devils.

Attica 18

Rossville 3

ATTICA – Carly Stoll hit a three-run homer to trigger a 10-run first inning for the Red Ramblers (10-12).

Stoll added an RBI double in the inning, and Karrah Pattengale hit a pair of run-scoring singles. Pattengale finished with three hits and four RBIs. Maci Kyger doubled twice and drove in four runs.

Elisabeth Hurley drove in two runs for Rossville.

CHALMERS – An eight-run fourth gave the Falcons all the runs they needed.

Abbie Mikesell went 3-for-3 and Kattie Lee, Catie Neary and Megan Doyle each had two RBIs for Frontier (18-7).

Zoey Rowe drove in two runs for the Bison.

North White 6

WOLCOTT – Cheyenne Stone went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Vikings (5-14).

Jessie LeBeau homered for Tri-County (4-18).

N. Vermillion 3

CAYUGA – Megan Hall went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Trojans (10-10).

Lebanon 3

Southmont 0

NEW MARKET – McKenzi Jordan struck out eight and allowed one earned run for the Mounties (15-8).
