NEW PALTZ — The boys basketball team from New Paltz High School toppled Roy C. Ketcham, 58-37, at the Officials vs. Cancer event at SUNY New Paltz on Saturday.
The Huguenots improved to 9-1 overall, outscoring the Class AA Indians 24-8 in the second quarter, and going on a 15-0 run to end the period.
Aden Gilmour led New Paltz with a game-high 22 points and was 7 for 8 from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds, three assists and four steals.
“We played our defense and came out scoring,” Gilmour said. “We’ve got to just keeping working hard in practice and shooting.”
The win was the sixth straight for New Paltz, which still has games against Roosevelt, Saugerties and Marlboro on its schedule.
“We’ve got to continue to play together. That’s been the biggest thing all year,” New Paltz coach Matt Moore said. “I always preach defense, defense, defense. Offense is great, but if you don’t play defense, you can’t stop a team from scoring.”
Ketcham (5-6) was led by Jacob Morganstern, who had 12 points.
