WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.-Williamsville South will try to snap a two game losing streak Friday night when the Billies play at West Seneca East in the playoff opener for both teams.
Despite the losses Williamsville South head coach Kraig Kurzanski believes his team remains confident. He told Two On Your Side’s Stu Boyar “I think our confidence is high. Quite honestly we were 4-1 in the A schools, we’re 6 points away from a perfect season in the A schools so our confidence is high. We didn’t play particularly well against McKinley and I think Timon’s pretty good last week. I think that’s a good non league contest for us. I think we’re confident I think we’ll play well our kids are excited to play.” Senior defensive lineman Alex Hidalgo told Stu “no we haven’t lost any confidence whatsoever. In fact I think we’re more confident. We’re the type of team that we really don’t get down from losses and we usually pick our heads back up and use those failures as motivation so hopefully we can come out on top this week.”
East won the last two meetings between the teams, both last year. Once in the regular season and once in the playoffs. Senior offensive lineman Joe Sanford told Stu “it was pretty disappointing when we lost but I think we’ve learned from those losses last year and we’ve prepared really well for them this year. I think if we play our game we can come out with the win.”
West Seneca East is 6-1 so far this year. The Billies are 4-3 overall. Kickoff is scheduled for 7-pm Friday night at Williamsville South.
