Casey Herzog allowed one earned run over 11 innings, leading the host Roy C. Ketcham High School softball team to a 2-1 victory over Eastchester and a 10-4 triumph over Wallkill at the Melissa Bisaccia Tournament in Wappingers Falls on Saturday.
Herzog surrendered three hits, no walks and struck out 10 against Eastchester, and allowed one hit, no walks and struck out three in four innings of relief versus Wallkill.
“She is our ace,” Ketcham coach Nicole Oliva said. “She’s a natural leader out there. She mixes her pitches well and hits her spots.”
In the first game, Emma Savas lifted a sacrifice fly. In the game against Wallkill, Victoria Pippa doubled home three runs.
Andrea Bombace had a double in each game for the Indians (12-0), who travel to Mamaroneck on Monday.
The tournament raised money for the Melissa D. Bisaccia Memorial Scholarship, which awards scholarship money to students at Ketcham and Franklin Pierce College as well as other local schools and organizations. Bisaccia, a 1997 Ketcham graduate, passed away from an epileptic seizure in her first semester at Franklin Pierce.
