Freshman Ava Boethig scored 20 minutes into the second half off a Danielle Tomko corner kick and it proved enough as the Delaware Valley High School girls soccer team topped Voorhees 1-0 Monday in Lebanon Township.

Sophomore Evangeline Soucie made eight saves for the Terriers (8-8-2), including three that prevented what looked to be sure goals, Voorhees coach Dave Sullivan said. She had her third shutout in eight games. Hannah Panreck stopped six shots for the Vikings (4-14-1).

North Plainfield 3, Dunellen 0: Caitlin Gugliotta, Gabby Spencer and Dannia Ledezma scored for North Plainfield. Ashley Marshall made one save for the shutout, as the Canucks improved to 7-9-1. Dunellen, which got nine saves from Casey Olsommer, fell to 4-13.

Pingry 0, Villa Walsh 0: Emma Thomas made seven saves and Pingry generated 11 shots on goal, but the Big Blue (10-4-2) settled for a draw.

Somerset Tech 1, Roselle Catholic 1: Harleen Singh scored with six minutes left as Somerset Tech salvaged a draw. Kaycie Sconda made 19 saves for the Jags (16-6-1).

Boys soccer

Wardlaw-Hartridge 2, J.F. Kennedy 1: Matt Nader scored a pair of goals for Wardlaw-Hartridge while Jason Carvalho scored the only Kennedy goal.

Rutgers Prep 3, Franklin 2: Ezer Browne, Ali Makhdoom, and Tom Smith each scored a goal to lead Rutgers Prep (6-6-2), as Smith scored the game-winner off a cross from Zach Perez. Andrew Echeverria scored both Franklin (3-15) goals.

Field hockey

Delaware Valley 2, Somerville 1: Tina Crotty and Brianna Skripko each netted goals as Delaware Valley (9-9-2) advanced in the first round of the NJSIAA North 2 Group II tournament. Ashley Judd made 12 saves for Somerville (1-16-3).

Franklin 5, Koinonia 1: Kierra Copperthwaite scored two goals and Kristen Paladino added a goal and two assists to propel Franklin. Jada Foster and Ebun Osuntuyi chipped in with goals for the Warriors (8-9).

South Plainfield 2, A.L. Johnson 1: Charlotte Macchia scored twice, with Shannon Hughes and Jess Bishop providing assistance, and South Plainfield improved to 18-2.

Pingry 1, Watchung Hills 0: Erin Butrico converted a Lily Neibart pass in the first half and the Pingry defense made it hold up, as the Big Blue improved to 6-11. Stephanie Yeh made two saves for the shutout victory, while Rachel Toubin stopped 12 shots for Watchung Hills (3-14-2).

Piscataway 3, North Plainfield 1: Freshman Imanni Reeves posted two goals – the first multi-goal game for her varsity career – and Piscataway improved to 2-16-2. Maya Gulliksen added a goal and an assist for the Chiefs, while Alisa Dickson hit for North Plainfield (0-15-1).

East Brunswick 3, Westfield 2: Taylor McNamara scored two goals, including the game winner with one second remaining, as East Brunswick rallied for a non-conference victory. Nikki Marzella opened the scoring midway through the half off a pass from McNamara, before McNamara made it 2-0 halfway through the second period, with Meagan Costello providing the assist. Westfield got even, when Alexa Stiles scored with 9:16 left before Colleen Kelly tied it on a penalty corner with 45 seconds remaining. Both goals were assisted by Bridget McLasker. McNamara then buried the winner off a penalty corner, with Costello assisting.
