In the end, becoming a Hawkeye was an easy decision for West Branch senior Bo Bower.
The all-state linebacker and fullback had scholarship offers from other schools but chose to walk on at Iowa.
“I decided in February for signing day,” Bower said. “I had a full-ride to UNI, but I’m walking on.”
Bower spent the winter lifting weight and preparing for his football future, but now he’s ready for track season. He went to the state meet as a relay runner last year, but he wants to end his high school career as an individual qualifier, as well.
“Track’s awesome. I like to run,” he said. “I love running the open 100 (meters). That’s my favorite. It’s just exciting and fast, and you don’t fatigue. It’s just all out.”
Bower also plays baseball and loves to hunt. He plans to study business at Iowa but will keep his options open.
