Boys basketball: Kimberly shoots past South in OT

Kimberly’s boys basketball team spent the fourth quarter chipping away at Sheboygan South’s double-digit lead, eventually forcing overtime and handing the Redwings a 57-52 non-conference loss on Monday.

South coach Mike Rank called the loss a “learning process,” noting Kimberly forced too many turnovers. But he noted his team is showing it can keep up with strong teams and will look to come back from the defeat Friday, when the Redwings host Green Bay Preble.

“We’ve just got to play to win in the fourth quarter and not play on our heels,” Rank said. “But like I said, it’s a learning process for this team.”

Jared Reklaitis scored 14 points and TJ Pitsch pitched in 13 more to power South (5-4), which entered the fourth quarter ahead by 11 points.

“I know they’re very hungry to come back to practice tomorrow morning,” Rank said of his players.
