Boys basketball: Laconia goes undefeated; Springs stunned by Omro

The Laconia boys basketball team finished the regular season undefeated after beating North Fond du Lac 60-25 on Saturday night.

Tyler Semenas scored 20 points and had six assists, Noah Greve added nine points and Brett Wittchow grabbed six rebounds for the Spartans who are 22-0 overall and 14-0 in the Flyway.

It’s the second time in school history that Laconia has finished the regular season undefeated, having also done it in 2007-08.

“It’s just a great feeling to finish undefeated. It’s something that doesn’t come around very often,” Laconia coach Tom King said. “It’s harder than people think because all it takes is one bad night. I think its a testament to our mental toughness.”

Laconia has a first-round tournament bye before playing either Markesan or Wayland Academy on Friday.

Tyler Arthur led the Orioles (8-14, 3-11), who host Kiel on Tuesday, with six points.

Springs enters the postseason on a two-game losing streak after suffering a road loss to Omro.

Evan Henderson scored 14 points for the Ledgers (18-4, 11-3) and Eric Feldner added 11 points. Springs has a bye on Tuesday and hosts either Pardeeville or Horicon on Friday.

Omro (11-11, 8-6) got a big night from senior Dylan Tritt, who scored 24 points for the Foxes.

Drew Liebner scored 11 points for the the Chargers (15-7, 10-4), who finished third in the conference behind Laconia and Springs.
