Tyler Hartmann scored 12 of his 14 points from behind the 3-point arc, Andrew Telschow added 10 points of his own and the Oostburg boys team charged to a 60-25 win at home Saturday over Kohler.

“I thought just defensively as a team we were really good tonight,” Oostburg coach Kevin Bruggink said after the game. “… I thought we were able to really do a pretty good job of concentrating on the defensive end.”

His Flying Dutchmen (14-2, 11-0 Central Lakeshore Conference) weren’t all about the defense, though. The offensive powerhouse splurged for a 20-point opening quarter en route to a 33-16 halftime lead.

“Hartmann had 11 points in the first half, and knocked down some perimeter shots,” Bruggink said, noting the 6-foot-1 senior’s aggressive style on offense Saturday was a key factor in the team’s win.

Dominic Bocchini led Kohler (6-11, 2-9 CLC) with nine points.

A short-handed Sheboygan Christian squad struggled to match up with an outsized opponent Saturday in a non-conference loss.

The Eagles, playing without centers Andy Koerber and Austin Black and power forward Kyle Stecker, kept up for about eight minutes, before a Central Wisconsin Christian team heavy-laden with 6-footers took control.

“They’re huge,” Sheboygan Christian coach Brett Flipse said, noting his players struggled to control the boards.

“Three of our big guys were either sick or hurt,” he added of Koerber, Black and Stecker.

“We struggled to score in the second quarter, so then they broke it away,” Flipse added.

Josh Stecker scored a team-high 13 points and Caleb Kelley added a dozen for Sheboygan Christian.
