Sheboygan North

2012-13 record: 20-5, 12-4 (t-third)

Coach: Tom Desotell, 37th year (596-216)

Returning letter winners: Davis Larson 6-5 so.; Noah Stengel 6-1 sr.; Jared Parise 5-11 jr.; Nick Rudolph 6-0 jr.

Other prospects: Eli Belmore 5-9 jr.; Sam Kaminski 6-8 so.; Zach Hasenstein 6-0 fr.

Outlook: The team will miss last year’s Fox River Classic Conference Player of the Year Ethan Guske, who burned opponents for more than 500 points during his senior campaign and helped form the scoring bedrock of North’s offense. But the team still has Davis Larson, a sophomore who’s already a varsity veteran after scoring 326 points in a breakout freshman season, and tenured coach Tom Desotell, who’s aiming for his 600th career win this year.

Sheboygan South

2012-13 record: 5-18, 5-11 (ninth)

Coach: Mike Rank, first year (0-0)

Returning letter winners: Carter Amundsen 6-1 sr.; TJ Pitsch 5-10 jr.; Conner Harrison 6-1 jr.; Sam Selk 5-11 jr.; Cody McLaughlin 6-3 sr.; Tyler Zietz 5-9 sr.; Joe Schultz 6-0 sr.

Other prospects: Erik Tetschlag 6-5 jr.; Parker Slimmer 5-10 jr.; Jared Reklaitis 6-4 jr.; Tristan Schmidt 6-0 sr.

Outlook: Last year’s leading scorers Matt Schroeder (328 points, 14.9 points per game) and Jake Knuth (214, 9.7) are gone after graduating. But the Redwings, under first-year coach Mike Rank, promise to get some production from junior T.J. Pitsch, who was third on the team in scoring last year with 165 points. Conner Harrison, who averaged 6.1 points per game and finished his sophomore season with 128 points, also is expected to return. Rank has said depth and good team chemistry should be strengths this year, while defense and rebounding remain question marks.
