Boys basketball roundup: Crusaders rain threes on Flyers

The St. Cloud Cathedral boys basketball team tied a school record in beating Little Falls 70-55 Friday night at Cathedral.

The Crusaders drainedg 14 three-pointers, to tie a school record against the Granite Ridge Conference-leading Flyers (10-2 GRC, 14-7 overall).

Brady Schmit led the way for Cathedral (10-3, 17-5) with 24 points. Teammate Brindley Theisen added 17.

Collin Eckman had 16 points for Little Falls. Spencer Lubbers pitched in 14.

MORA – Junior guard Sam Johnson had 26 points to lead Mora (10-2 Granite Ridge, 17-3 overall) past Albany (9-4, 13-9).

Senior guard Scott Litchy had 19 points, sophomore guard Nick Raeker had 13 points, senior forward Zach Raeker had 12 points and six rebounds and senior guard Brett Fischer had 10 points for Albany.

MORA – Sam Johnson 26, Cody Cottingham 14, Adam Burgess 12, Derek Barnick 8, Justin O’Bert 4 (5 blocks), Jon Burrow 5, Kaleb Kamrowski 3, Matt McKelvy 2.

FOLEY – Tyler Templin’s 19 points propelled the Falcons to a win over Zimmerman. Noah Lunning was the Thunder’s leading scorer with 11.

FOLEY – Nate Boeckman 6, Jon Greener 3, Tyler Templin 19, Mitch Weisser 9, Coleman Strosahl 14, Kurt Winkelman 7, Sam Udermann 5, Ben Greener 8.

BECKER – The Sabres held a commanding 50-18 lead into the second half and they went on to dismantle the Bulldogs. Tom Bearson led the charge with 27 points for Sartell (12-10). Andrew Davalos scored six to top Becker.

PAYNESVILLE – Senior Cody Schwinghammer and sophomore Matt Vasilj both tallied 13 points to boost the Huskers.

Junior guard Jordon Roos was the lone Bulldog in double figures with 13 points.

SAUK CENTRE 87, STAPLES-MOTLEY 48

SAUK CENTRE – Senior center Nick Adams eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in Sauk Centre’s nonconference win.

MELROSE 95,
MINNEWASKA 61

MELROSE – Seniors Scottie Stone and Isaac Sawyer went on a scoring binge to guide the Dutchmen over Minnewaska. Stone recorded 33 points, with Sawyer adding 31. Jake Amundson led the Lakers with 15. Melrose improves to 22-1.

DELANO 66, ANNANDALE 58

DELANO – Toby Hanson went over the 1,000-point mark with a second half basket for Delano. Hansen finished the game with 22 points to lead the Tigers (20-2).

Matt Miller had 17 points to lead Annandale. Brett Fobbe (14) and John Kalthoff (12) were also in double figures for the Cardinals (14-7).

ROCKFORD 77, PIERZ 38

ROCKFORD – Junior Nick Tully had 25 points for the Rockets, who blasted Pierz in Central Minnesota Conference play. Cullin Carter recorded 10 points for Pierz. The Rockets improve to 12-10.
