Boys basketball roundup: Roncalli edges Brookfield

Some stout defense in the second quarter propelled the Roncalli boys basketball team to a 53-43 win over Brookfield Academy Saturday morning at the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout at Concordia University.

The Jets (8-1) held a two point edge after the first quarter and held the Blue Knights to just two points in the second to extend the lead to 12 at halftime.

Roncalli entered the game as the No. 3 team in Division 3 according to the WisSports.net coaches poll. Brookfield was No. 5 in D4.

Logan Theisen recorded a team-high 15 points for the Jets.

Trailing by eight at the half, the Raiders (6-4) rallied to tie the game with an 8-0 run to start the third quarter.

Jordan Steckler had 14 of his 22 points in the second half. Steckler also hauled down 10 rebounds.

It was a four-point game with under two minutes left in the contest, but Austin Rehrauer knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to extend TR’s advantage to 10.

The Raiders held the Lions to just nine points over the final two quarters.

Adam Bonk’s 25 points weren’t enough as Manitowoc Lincoln fell to Milwaukee Pulaski 70-47 Saturday night at the JFK Fieldhouse.

Lincoln held a one-p[oint lead after the first quarter, but was unable to build upon it.

12 of Bonk’s game-high 25 came from beyond the arc.

Joining Bonk in double figures was Ben Kohls with 11.
