The Marquette men’s basketball team is after another player from the Bay Conference.
The school offered a scholarship to West De Pere junior forward Cody Schwartz on Thursday, less than two months after making an offer to Seymour senior guard Sandy Cohen.
“I know he thought the visit went really well (Wednesday),” West De Pere coach Andrew Werner said. “He was excited. They didn’t offer him (Wednesday) night, but then they called today.”
The 6-foot-8 Schwartz was the Bay Conference player of the year in 2012-13 after averaging 19.0 points. He was a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association all-state pick in Division 2 and an honorable-mention all-state pick by the The Associated Press.
He also led the Phantoms to their first league championship since 1986.
Schwartz has generated interest from a number of schools, including Iowa and Creighton. Werner said Creighton has been after Schwartz the longest of any school.
“Right now, from what he told me, he just wants to keep his options open until he gets to the point where it’s the right fit,” Werner said.
