The boys golf teams from Spackenkill, Red Hook, New Paltz and Millbrook high schools will vie for the Mid Hudson Athletic League’s Larry Johnson Memorial Team Championship today at 2:15 p.m. at Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland. Spackenkill and Red Hook earned their place in the tournament by winning divisional-title playoff matches on Tuesday.

Spackenkill defeated Onteora 157-180 at Apple Greens Golf Course to clinch its eighth straight MHAL Division III title, while Red Hook topped Rondout Valley 168-176 at McCann Memorial Golf Course to win the Division II crown. New Paltz was the MHAL’s Division I champion, and Millbrook was tops in Division IV.

Stanley Garrant had a birdie and seven pars to pace Spackenkill (12-1) with an even-par 36. Teammate Erik Stauderman carded a 38, Greg Allen had a 40, and Tim Gugumuck had a 43. Garrant’s birdie was a bunker shot on the par-3 third hole.

Red Hook (9-2) was equally balanced in its win over the Ganders, with five golfers scoring an 8-over-par 44 or better. Kyle Van Wagner and Steve Munisteri tied with Rondout’s Ethan DeForest for the match’s low score of 41. Austin Lunstedt shot 42 for Red Hook.
