Thanks to some clutch shooting at the charity stripe, Coldwater edged host Union City 36-33 in non-conference boys’ basketball action on Tuesday.
The Cardinals trailed by four with under two minutes to play, but made some key free throws down the stretch, including a pair with under 10 seconds left in regulation to seal the victory.
The win helped Coldwater reach .500 with a 6-6 record on the season. Lucas Stempien led the Cardinals with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Jordan Eddy had 10 points and five rebounds.
Union City (7-3) was led by Emmett Fraley with 18 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and four blocks. Also for the Chargers, Josh Holton had eight points and three steals.

Pennfield 62, (at) Constantine 58: Darin Blocker produced 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks as the Panthers prevailed in the KVA road contest. Also for Pennfield (4-5, 4-5), Davontae Miller had 13 points and six rebounds, sophomore Ryan Lowe had nine points, 17 rebounds and five blocks; Aaron Brown, a transfer from BCC. playing in his first game, had 11 points and five boards.
Olivet 67, Delton Kellogg 40: Quintan Harris had a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds to go with three blocks in the victory for Olivet. Brett Whitely had 13 points for the Eagles (6-4, 6-3 KVA). Delton Kellogg was led by Zach Leinaar with 10 points.
(At) Marshall 64, Charlotte 19: Robby Ranville led the Redhawks’ balanced scoring attack with 13 points as Marshall improved to 8-3 with the non-league victory. Tony Wimberly and Landry Reynolds added 10 points apiece.
(At) Climax-Scotts 71, Litchfield 21: The Class D No. 2-ranked Panthers cruised to 11-0 in this SCAA triumph. Aaron Cook led C-S (8-0 league) with 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Also, Malachi Satterlee had 15 points, Cody Moody 10 and Zach Nabozny had five steals.
Jonesville 46, (at) Athens 41: Lucas Jenkins had 21 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in the loss for Athens. Jonah Harris had nine points and eight rebounds for the Indians (3-8, 1-4 Big Eight).
Quincy 61, (at) Bronson 50: Ashton Diotte had 16 points, four rebounds and four steals in the win for Quincy. Also for the Orioles (6-5), Jimmy King had 13 points, seven assists and four steals. Bronson was led by Mark Robinson with nine points, 14 rebounds and three assists.
(At) Calhoun Christian 54, Coldwater Pansophia 20: Matthew Parks had 15 points, Levi Burgett had a career-high 14 points and Cameron Hiscock had 11 points in the win for Calhoun Christian (5-5). Coldwater Pansophia was led by Justin Avery with 10 points.
