By

DELTA TWP.

Waverly used a 25-point second quarter to pull away from Eaton Rapids and cruise to a 72-39 CAAC Gold boys basketball win Friday night.

Dee Roberts led all scorers with 20 points for the Warriors, who led by just five points, 14-9, with 5:47 left the first half. After some sideline persuasion from coach Craig Fields, Waverly (13-3, 9-1) went on a 21-2 run to blow the game open and take a 35-11 lead at the break.

“We had a short time-out and changed some attitudes a little bit,” Fields said. “We played good defense and had high energy from the second quarter on.”

Jared McDaniel had a team-high 13 points and Ta’ron Gentry added 10 for Eaton Rapids (5-11, 4-6).
