Boys lacrosse: Monroe captures second straight conference title


The Monroe High School boys lacrosse team captured its second consecutive Greater Middlesex Conference regular season title thanks to a dominating performance on Tuesday afternoon with a 19-1 victory over North Brunswick.

Matt Siemons led the Falcons (8-2), scoring twice and compiling seven assists. DJ Masceli scored four times and Nick Scardilli added a pair of assists in the triumph.

Jacob Newton-Tanzar tallied the lone goal for North Brunswick (1-8).

Ridge 12, Pingry 1: Alec Burckley and JT Palladino each fired in three goals and added an assist as No. 1 Ridge continued to impress. The Red Devils scored six third-quarter goals to put the game away. The versatile Owen Molloy scored two goals, added an assist and made six saves in the victory. Clay McCollum scored the lone goal for Pingry (0-7).

11, Delaware Valley 4: Matt Raposo scored four goals and added an assist and Logan LeBlond scored twice and assisted on four scores to send No. 5 Somerville (8-1). Casey McAdam collected 12 ground balls for the Pioneers. Kyle Lauck scored a pair goals for Delaware Valley (2-6). Dan Rose compiled 22 saves for the Terriers.

Westfield 10, Mendham 4: Jack Flaherty tallied three goals and added an assist while Luke Prybylski notched two goals and an assist to power No. 5 Westfield (6-3). Chris Aslanian scored two goals and picked up four ground balls and Dan Huber doled out a pair of assists for the Blue Devils. Christian Burgdorf collected eight ground balls while Garrett Williamson turned aside 10 shots in the triumph.

New Providence 9, Nutley 5: Jack Harvey led all scorers with five goals and teammate James Burke collected four assists as New Providence improved to 8-1. Quinn Killeen, Jonathan Ebery, and Derek Singer each scored once, while Brian Valerio made 13 saves for the Pioneers.

Day 10, Voorhees 5: Alex Bianco led Voorhees (2-7) with two goals while teammates Jack Olsen, Nick Ruggiero and Ryan Wall contributed one goal each.

South Brunswick 6, Peddie 2: Matt Gorzynski, Danny Joseph and Tom Presti each scored two goals to power South Brunswick (5-2). Brad LeHan made four saves for the Vikings.

Bridge 15, J.P. Stevens 1: Brian Gearghty tallied three goals and two assists and Chris Ryan posted three goals and one assist to ignite Old Bridge (8-1), which opened up an 8-0 lead after the first quarter. Larry Pedersen scored two goals and dished out two assists, Nick Lomeli notched two goals and one assist and Logan Stevenson finished with one goal, two assists and 15 ground balls for the Knights. Isaiah Trawick recorded one goal, one assist and seven ground balls and Matt Sandor had a pair of assists in the win. J.P. Stevens is 0-6.
