Senior attackman Tyler Konen scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys lacrosse team, ranked No. 3 in the Courier News Top 5, to a 9-2 victory over Skyland Conference Delaware Division rival Watchung Hills on Saturday afternoon in Bridgewater.
Senior attackman Ryan Mygatt scored twice and added an assist and senior middie Cody Ruperto netted a pair of goals for the Panthers (4-3), winners of two straight.
Sophomore attackman Griffin Figel notched a goal and two assists, senior middie Brad Prietrucha scored once and picked up four ground balls and sophomore middie Richie Lenskold added an assist in the victory.
For Watchung Hills (3-3), senior middie Jeff George and sophomore attackman Alec Orazietti scored once each and senior attackman Kevin Carol picked up an assist.
Bridgewater-Rartian, which led 9-1 at halftime, outshot the Warriors 26-7.
Ridge 15, Hopewell Valley 4: Junior attackman Owen Malloy broke through for a career-high six goals and senior middie Eric Scott added four scores to lift No. 2-ranked Ridge (7-1). Freshman middie Kevin Quigley netted a pair of scores, senior attackman Jack Gunning doled out three assists and junior attackman JT Palladino finished with one goal and three assists for the Red Devils. TJ Jones made nine saves in the victory.
Hunterdon Central 9, Pingry 5: Senior middie Keegan Hickey led the way with three goals and senior attackman Jackson Lee scored one goal and dished out five assists for propel No. 2-ranked Hunterdon Central (5-2). Senior middie Nick Tortoriello found the back of the net twice and senior goalie Lucas Jones made 10 saves for the Red Devils. For Pingry (0-6), sophomore middie J.C. Sorenson fished with two goals and one assist and freshman attackman Ben Shepard added a pair of goals. Sophomore attackman Clay McCollum doled out three assists for the Big Blue. Sophomore goalie Zach Green made nine saves.
Rutgers Prep 19, Phillipsburg 1: Sophomore attackman Jack Vajda tallied five goals and dished out four assists and sophomore middie Tom Smith scored once, added seven helpers and picked up seven ground balls to send the No. 4-ranked Argonauts to 8-0. Senior middie Elliot Dennis collected three goals and three assists and sophomore attackman Evan Lombardo notched three goals and one assist. Ed Smith scored three times and Austin Joyal finished with two goals and one assist for Prep. Senior defender Ryan Dennis compiled 20 ground balls, while sophomore goalie Christian Klipstein needed only one save to follow up a shut out on Friday with another stellar performance. Klipstein is allowing a meager 3.63 goals per game (fifth best in the state).
Bernards 10, Voorhees 3: Griffin Connor scored three goals, added three assists and scooped up six ground balls to send Bernards (8-2). Devin Ray and Declan Swartwood each scored twice for the Mountaineers. Robert Schaufler notched one goal and two assists and Will Kenny posted one goal and one assist. Reid Zurlo collected five ground balls and Brian Fersini made nine saves for the victors. Jack Olsen scored two goals and Nick Ruggiero fired in another for Voorhees (2-6). Chris Stanaback turned aside 17 shots in defeat.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood 15, Verona 4: Senior attackman Jack Cunningham scored four goals and senior middie Matt Greenberg posted three goals and one assist for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (6-3). Junior middies Gabe Gibson and Alex Cimerling and junior attackman Christian Gordon all had two goals for the Raiders.
Vernon 10, New Providence 7: Sophomore attacking middie Jack Harvey scored four goals and picked up five ground balls for New Providence (6-1). Freshman attackman Quinn Killeen notched one goals and two assists, while senior middie Derek Singer and junior attackman James Burke had a goal and an assist apiece for the Pioneers. Senior goalie Brian Valerio turned aside 17 shots.
Edison 14, East Side 3: Alex Montesano scored three goals and added two assists and Jared Pezzello collected three goals, one assist and seven ground balls to spark Edison (3-4). Steven Hartman netted three goals, Brett Heffernan finished with one goal and three assists and Kevin Maser compiled two goals, one assist and five ground balls for the Eagles.
East Brunswick 8, St. John Vianney 7: John Krayowski tallied four goals and Anthony Fischer notched two goals and one assist to lead East Brunswick (3-6). Jake Krantz and Mark Berckman both registered a goal and an assist for the Bears. Paul Brydbord turned aside 12 shots in the victory.
Moorestown 11, Montgomery 2: Robert Kuhn scored four goals and Matthew Olbrich collected three goals and 11 ground balls for Moorestown (7-0), which built a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and cruised. Matt Stagnita notched one goal and one assists and Josh Reinson added a goal for Montgomery (4-4).
West Essex 17, Monroe 5: Senior attackman Zach Pace netted two scores to crack 100 goals for his career, while senior middie Nick Scardilli dished out three assists for Monroe (7-2).
