Boys lacrosse: Watchung Hills rolls in first round of state tournament

Watchung Hills (10-7) defeated Morris Knolls in the first round of the NJSIAA state tournament by a score of 18-5.

The Warriors were lead by senior Jeff George who produced 2 goals and 6 assists, while sophomore Alec Orazietti (5 goals, 1 assist), freshman Sean Mullaney (4 goals, 2 assists) and sophomore Ryan Cunningham (2 goals, 2 assists) each contributed to the offensive effort.

Andrew Keller, John Tekin, Kevin Carroll, Cary Rakin and Carl Valentino each chipped in with one goal.

Bridgewater-Raritan 14, Columbia 1: Tyler Konen led the way for fourth-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan with four goals and two assists and teammates Ryan Mygatt had two goals and two assists and Griffin Figel had two goals and one assist, respectively, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Group IV Tournament. Connor Eckert turned in two goals and one assist and Ethan Christiansen netted two goals for the Panthers.

South Brunswick 13, Washington Twp. 10: Aiden Burnett went for four goals and three assists and Bruce Redfield netted three goals to lead 10th-seeded South Brunswick in the first round of the NJSIAA South Group IV Tournament. Thomas Presti had two goals and two assists and Danny Joseph tallied two goals and one assist for the Vikings. Brad LeHan made 10 saves and Jeff Wu finished 18 of 26 on faceoffs in the victory.

Hillsborough 14, Clifton 6: Conor Fitzgerald tallied four goals to lead seventh-seeded Hillsborough in the first round of the NJSIAA North Group IV Tournament. Thomas Davies netted three goals, and Jimmy Boland, Wian Coetzer and Tony Zellers scored two goals apiece for the Raiders.

Hunterdon Central 17, East Brunswick 2: Keegan Hickey Turned in three goals and one assist and Jackson Lee tallied two goals and three assists for third-seeded Hunterdon Central in the first round of the NJSIAA North Group IV Tournament. Nick Tortoriello had two goals and one assist and teammates Mark Diehl and Ryan Darrow each netted two goals for the Red Devils. Jake Krantz and Anthony Fischer each scored goals for 14th-seeded East Brunswick.

Monroe 10, Rancocas Valley 3: Joe Collins and Zach Pace each scored four times for sixth-seeded Monroe in the first round of the NJSIAA South Group IV Tournament.

Somerville 22, Neptune 0: Matt Raposo tallied four goals and three assists and Joe Murphy finished with three goals to lead top-seeded Somerville in the first round of the NJSIAA South Group II Tournament.

Hopewell Valley 16, Governor Livingston 3: Brian Hutton scored a pair of goals and Joe Pozniak scooped up 14 ground balls for 13th-seeded Governor Livingston in the first round of the NJSIAA South Group II Tournament.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 8, Wayne Valley 7 (OT): Jack Cunningham scored four times and Chrisitan Gordon sank a pair of goals for seventh-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the first round of the NJSIAA North Group III Tournament.
