CWC 6, Lake Mills 0

Central Wisconsin Christian defeated Lake Mills 6-0 Friday night in its opening game of the Crusader Kick off Classic at Waupun.

CWC will face St. Mary Central Saturday at 10:45 a.m. after the Zephyrs defeated New Holstein 2-1.

Crusaders’ Luke Jansen and Cody Zonnefeld each scored two goals in the win over the L-Cats, with Zonnefeld striking first at the 1:18 mark. The Crusaders took a 2-0 halftime lead after a Jared Regnerus goal at 17:46, then Jansen struck twice to make it 4-0 early in the second half to extend the lead. Regenerus and Connor Kemink were the others to score after that.

“We made lots of strides from our scrimmage on Tuesday to our performance in the opener here,” CWC head coach Gregg Zonnefeld said. “Offensively we were able to be more aggresive and attack, while defensively we avoided the major letdowns.”
