Johnny Evagelou scored a golden goal in the second overtime off a deflection from Ryan dean to lift the John F. Kennedy boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Spotswood on Wednesday night at Merrill Park.
Evangelou scored on a free kick to initially put the Mustangs (4-3) up 1-0 before Spotswood (3-3) battled back and forced overtime after converting a penalty kick late in the second half.
Middlesex 4, Highland Park 0: Joe Korom netted two goals while Ben Martinez and Ivan Matta also added scores to power Middlesex (3-5). Carsten Bowers made 14 saves for the Blue Jays. Highland Park is 3-3.
Wardlaw-Hartridge 4, Bishop Ahr 3: Matthew Nader scored all four goals to lead Wardlaw-Hartridge (1-5) to its first victory. Diogo Ferreira netted two assist for the Rams. Bishop Ahr is 3-3.
Metuchen 1, Carteret 0: Brian Sullivan scored the game-winning goal in the second half to lift Metuchen (5-2), as Ben O’Connell and Joe Misdea combined for 10 saves on the shutout. Julio Velez made seven saves in goal for Carteret (4-6).
Perth Amboy Tech 5, East Brunswick Tech 0: Nilsson Siguenza scored two goals, Gonzalo Bazan netted a goal and two assists, and Angel Ramirez stopped six shots to lead Perth Amboy Tech (3-2) to victory. Morgan Montgomery made 11 saves for East Brunswick Tech (0-5).
Piscataway Tech 7, Woodbridge Academy 0: Celin Rojas and Jeff Noyola each netted two goals to pace Piscataway Tech (5-1). Kyle Kopcho recorded nine saves for Woodbridge Academy (0-5-1).
South Amboy 9, Cardinal McCarrick 2: Jack O’Conner scored three goals and Justin Rios tallied a goal and two assists as South Amboy routed its neighboring rival. Daniel Abril scored both Cardinal McCarrick goals.
Timothy Christian 8, Middlesex Academy 0: Matt Parris and Zach Coyle scored two goals each as Timothy Christian scored all eight of its goals in the first half and improved to 5-2. Aayush Verma and Hrishi Dharam combined to save 14 shots for Middlesex Academy (1-4-1).
