Sheboygan North’s boys soccer team scored early and held on long enough Thursday to claim a 1-0 shutout against Green Bay Southwest and keep its place atop the Fox River Classic Conference standings.
Quintin Eisner scored in the first half off a Jorge Miller assist, and North’s defense shut down the Trojans the rest of the night to preserve the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Evan Platz registered four saves in the net for North (17-1, 8-0 FRCC).
“I was really proud of how the guys reacted tonight and played,” North coach Tim Eirich said, noting the team was short-handed and played through a “very, very physical game” that featured numerous fouls.
Sheboygan Falls 4, Kiel 0
Matt Wilke had a hat trick, and Jake Musil also scored as the Falcons downed the Raiders in Falls.
“A good game by the entire team. Good passing and ball movement,” Falls coach Kristofer Rusch said.
Falls improved to 8-1 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.
New Holstein 3, Little Chute 0
Mike Pasineau scored a goal in each half and Zach Petrie added a score in the 56th minute to push the Huskies (9-6-1) to the non-conference shutout win.
Stephan Clemens registered seven saves in New Holstein’s net.
Kohler 3, Howards Grove 2
Kohler’s boys soccer team survived a back-and-forth Central Lakeshore Conference contest.
Brady Stefanczyck scored the game’s lone first-half goal to give the Blue Bombers (10-6-1, 5-3-1 CLC) a narrow lead at halftime.
The Tigers’ Jordan Fischer evened the game in the second period, but Connor Sbrocco put Kohler back in the lead about a minute later.
Howards Grove’s Derrick Grimm tied the game again before Ben Madigan scored the game-winner on a penalty kick.
Calvin Stefanczyck had 13 saves in Kohler’s net.
Howards falls to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the CLC.
Oostburg 1, Cedar Grove 0
Michael Meke scored late in the first half — around the 37th minute — and the defending co-CLC champion Flying Dutchmen upped their record to 13-5-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the conference.
Spencer Bares made four saves in the net for Cedar Grove-Belgium (2-10, 1-7 CLC).
Random Lake 1, Ozaukee 0
Zachary Ross scored the winning goal in the 70th minute to push the Rams past their just-over-the-border rivals.
Ozaukee put up five shots on goal to Random Lake’s six.
