The John Jay High School boys soccer team won its third straight game, and second in three days, topping visiting Hendrick Hudson 5-0 on Wednesday in Wiccopee.
Brian Vigorita had a hat trick for the Patriots (3-0), scoring two goals in the first eight minutes of the second half. Ryan Metz and Kevin Turi also scored for John Jay, with Steve Turi picking up two assists.
Vigorita, who played midfield as a sophomore and defense as a junior, is now a forward.
“Brian’s work rate up top really creates opportunities for us,” John Jay coach Rob Seipp said. “He puts the opposing defense under so much pressure. It’s frustrating for the keeper that Brian is relentless in his pursuit of the ball.
“Whenever we need someone, we put Brian in there. He can literally play all 10 positions on the field. I haven’t tried him at goalkeeper yet!”
John Jay outshot Hendrick Hudson 19-4. Patriots goalkeepers Shawn Flynn and Chris Wyskida had a combined four stops.
“Our defense is doing a great job. We have two shutouts so far,” Seipp said. “We’ve been very good in the back.”
John Jay visits Ossining on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
