Central and Jay County nearly swept the top seeds in preliminaries at the Jay County Sectional. Central’s Andrew Dowdle and Jay County’s James Keen each earned multiple No. 1 seeds for Saturday’s finals.
Dowdle is seeded first in both sprint races after swimming a 22.78 in the 50 freestyle and a 49.36 in the 100 freestyle. Keen is the top seed in the 200 freestyle, where he swam a 1:52.92, and the 100 backstroke, where he swam a 56.60.
Central has six total top seeds, while Jay County has four No. 1 seeds for Saturday’s finals. Central earned the top seed in both the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay. Jay County will be seeded first in the 400 freestyle relay.
Sectional winners qualify for the state meet, and swimmers who meet state qualifying standards will also earn guaranteed berths.
Yorktown opened competition at the Fishers Sectional on Thursday, and the Tigers earned third seeds in both freestyle relays. Yorktown’s 200 medley relay team is seeded fourth after Thursday’s prelims.
