Caesar Rodney’s Nikola Sijan was named the top seed in boys first singles, and Annie Jaskulski, of Wilmington Friends, was named the top seed in girls first singles today when the brackets were drawn for the DIAA Boys and Girls Tennis State Tournaments.
Scott Battaglia, of Tatnall, is the No. 1 seed in boys second singles, with CR’s Parker Barton seeded first in boys third singles. CR’s Donnan Gravelle and Trey Parker are the top seeds in boys first doubles, and St. Andrew’s Ryan Chiu and Doug McLaurin are the No. 1 seeds in boys third doubles.
Tower Hill’s Sydney Butler is the top seed in girls second singles, and CR’s Hannah Morris is the No. 1 seed in girls third doubles. Tower Hill’s Carolyn Ward and Abigail Podolsky are the top seeds in girls first doubles, and the Hillers’ Alexandria Churchwell and Taylor Reese are the top seeds in girls second doubles.
First- and second-round play in both tournaments will be held Saturday at courts around the state. The quarterfinals will be held Monday, and semifinals will be played Tuesday, again at various locations. All championship matches will be played Wednesday at the University of Delaware.
