Bronson's Gray headlines B.C.'s 2013 All-Area Softball Team

By

The Bronson softball team began the 2013 season with some lofty goals, and nearly achieved them all.

The Vikings won 34 games and came up three wins short in their bid for a Division 3 state championship, thanks to one of the best collection of talents in the area — if not the state.

And for guiding her young and talented team to the state quarterfinal round, Bronson’s Becky Gray has been selected as the 2013 Enquirer All-Area Softball Coach of the Year.

Gray headlines this year’s 18-member Enquirer All-Area Softball Team, as selected by area coaches and the Enquirer sports staff.

Joining Gray on the Dream Team roster are a trio of her Vikings in Liz Baker, Kassidy Bystry and Skyler Sobeski.

Five more area schools posted multiple players on the All-Area team. The dynamic duos include Coldwater’s Jessica Becks and Michaela Gillette; Colon’s Makayla Craun and Katie Denney; Galesburg-Augusta’s Noelle Mejeur and Chloe Ostlund; Gull Lake’s Christina Avery and Courtney Senkewitz; and Homer’s Mallori Konkle and Stephanie Osborn.

Rounding out the All-Area team and representing their schools are Climax-Scotts’ Janae Langs; Delton Kellogg’s Brooke Martin; Marshall’s Katie Jarvis; Olivet’s Renae Morton and Tekonsha’s Katie Jenkins.
