Season recap: Blake went undefeated in Arizona, and his only losses of the year came in a pair of one-set matches in a national tournament in March. In the Division I singles state tournament, he gave up a combined 12 games in his first two matches before defeating Scottsdale Chaparral junior James Ponwith 6-4, 6-4 in the final to become Brophy’s first singles champion since 1997. Blake was also named a high school All-American by the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation. He plans to study finance and play tennis at TCU.

Blake’s comments: “To go undefeated my senior season is pretty awesome. I wasn’t really expecting myself to be in that position, but I played well at the end. I got to give it to everyone else out there. It definitely wasn’t easy.”

Coach Bill Woods’ comments: “If you had asked me three years ago if Hudson would progress this far, I would’ve said he could, but I would not have guessed he would. He started tennis late, and he learned what it was like to lose. He learned what he had to do to get to this level. He just really, really worked hard and has made himself into a great tennis player. He’s a good kid and he deserves the accolades. I’m unbelievably proud of him.”
