Campbellsport soccer falls to New Holstein in OT

New Holstein 2, Campbellsport 1 (OT)

The Cougars were handed their first loss of the season as the Huskies’ Jacob Conrad scored on a penalty kick in the fourth overtime minute for the game-winner.

Campbellsport (3-1) trailed 1-0 most the game until Jack Adams scored on a penalty kick with less than seven minutes left in regulation after freshman Tyler Schultz was taken down in the box on a scoring chance.

New Holstein appeared to have scored the winning goal a moment earlier in overtime on another penalty kick, but it was waived off because it was taken by a player who subbed into the game, so the kick was tried again.

“It was a very intense and crazy game,” Huskies coach Nate Laabs said. “Campbellsport has been a very tough place for us to win in the past. This was a tough and hard-fought win today.”

The Cougars host Kewaskum next Tuesday.
