WEST SENECA, N.Y.-Canisius crushed St. Mary’s of Lancaster Saturday afternoonn 51-0.

Canisius built a 44-0 halftime lead and coasted to the win in the second half. The Crusaders improve to 4-1 on the season. They are ranked 5th in New York State. St. Mary’s was ranked 11th in Class A in New York. They were coming off a bye and saw their record drop to 3-1.

Canisius quarterback ZachLiberatore was 8 for 8 for 89 yards and a touchdown. He connected with De’Anthony Simpson for a 68 yard touchdown. Simpson also caught a 63 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jakob Loucks. It was the only pass Loucks threw all day. It was the first play of the second half. Ryan Richards caught a 32 yard touchdown pass and Mitch Thomas hauled in a 27 yard touchdown pass.

Defensively TJ Wheatley had four tackles, two for a loss, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and he returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown. Brad Zaffram had four tackles and a safety.

Canisius is home next Saturday afternoon against Bishop Timon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2-pm.
