North Plainfield 19, Roselle 0: After being gashed for 34 points in a loss A.L. Johnson, North Plainfield clamped down on defense and pitched a shutout in Mid-State 38 Raritan clash.
The Canucks, burnt by an early pick six last week, got going the same way when Naim Hanks returned a Jason McRae interception 32 yards to the house in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Kyle Grant (10 carries, 82 yards) scored on a 10-yard run and also threw a four-yard touchdown pass to junior fullback Chuck Kaiser.
North (1-1) will be out to avenge a last year’s loss to Somerville with a game at Brooks Field Friday night.
