Carol Ann Pawlyshyn helps Union-Endicott girls place third at state bowling championships

The Union-Endicott girls bowling team finished third at the state bowling championships Saturday at Strike ‘N Spare Lane in Syracuse.

U-E was led by Carol Ann Pawlyshyn who took down 1,196 pins in six games. Lexie Ripic had the high game for U-E in the second game of the day with a 277. Ripic finished with a 1,169 series.

Middle Country won the girls side with 6,053.

The Horseheads boys bowling team finished eighth. Horseheads was led by Jarek Kucko with 1,317 pins. Kucko also had the high game for Horseheads with a 268.

“They exceeded my expectations by a long shot,” Horseheads coach Steve Micknich said.

“I told them after the match today that they’re a very scrappy, tough team.”

The section all-star teams will compete today at the same site.
