The Red Bank Catholic boys volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Shore Conference Class A Central title with a 2-0 win over Long Branch on Thursday.

The third-year Caseys (10-4, 9-1) also clinched a berth in the state tournament for the second time in program history. They prevailed 25-7 and 25-8.

For the Caseys, James Taylor notched two kills, 12 assists and four aces. Ryan Farley added 12 assists and two aces. Jimmy Glover contributed two digs. Kevin Brennan notched three aces. Justin Terry had three kills and two aces.

Matt Smith added three kills. Chris Calandrillo blasted home four kills. Pat Drum put up five kills and two blocks. Mac Feaster finished with four kills and one block and J.P. Legrottaglie added five kills and two digs.

For Long Branch (0-16, 0-6), Miguel Ocasio had two blocks.

WALL 2, MONS. DONOVAN 1: The Crimson Knights (12-3, 8-1) won the third game, 25-21, for a Class A Central victory over the Griffins (5-8, 4-6).

Ryan Donahue paced the Crimson Knights with 16 kills, three blocks, eight digs and two aces. Chris Smith added five kills, three blocks, seven digs and three aces. Mike Smith contributed 27 assists and five digs. Eddie Palluzzi had four blocks and three digs. Gerard Dunn had 22 digs.

For Donovan, Tyler Broos handed out 23 assists. Jon O’Connor finished with six kills, three blocks and five digs. Zach Rayment notched four kills and four digs. Matt Post had six kills, two blocks, two digs, four aces and three assists. Dave Wintrode added seven kills, two blocks and two digs.

SOUTHERN 2, TR NORTH 0: Kyle Ficken’s nine kills and Mike Gesicki’s four kills and two blocks propelled the visiting Rams (19-3, 10-0) past the Mariners (4-6, 6-9) in Class A South.

Luke King added 14 assists. Jake Necamp contributed four digs and Jimmy Ayers finished with three kills.

For North, Zachary Lynne scrapped for nine digs. William Koch had three kills and two blocks. Nicolas Mercadante added two digs and two kills and Daniel Dellane finished with four assists.

MARLBORO 2, HOWELL 0: Bobby Jastzebski’s 10 kills and four blocks led the visiting Mustangs (8-7, 8-5) past the Rebels (5-8, 3-7) in Class A North.

Brandon D’Lima added nine kills and two blocks. Teammate Drew Loeser scrapped for eight digs and Dylan O’Handley contributed 22 assists.

For Howell, Jacob Brown had two aces, seven kills and three digs. Victor DiGirolamo added four kills and two digs. James Donahue finished with three kills. Jason Gillies added 25 assists and five digs. Pete Wilson notched nine kills and 11 digs and Kyle Yuro finished with nine kills and 10 digs.

CBA 2, COLTS NECK 0: Led by Dan Andree, John Gatens and Doug Dzema, the visiting Colts (14-4, 10-0) bested the Cougars (8-9, 2-7) in Class A North.

Andree finished with four kills, three blocks and four aces. Gatens added four kills, three digs and four aces. Dzema put up two kills, two aces and 21 assists.

Joe Schecter paced the Cougars with 10 digs. Hongliang Zhang added three digs and five kills. Jack Lind contributed two aces, three digs and two kills.

MANCHESTER 2, BARNEGAT 0: Doug DeSimone’s six kills, three digs and nine aces and Ali Yildrim’s 13 digs and three aces powered the host Hawks (6-6, 4-5) past the Bengals (4-12, 4-6) in Class A Central.

Antoine Brown added two kills. Blake Borsetti contributed 12 kills and four digs. Sean Rembach added two kills and four digs. Nick Capasso put up two digs and 19 assists. Santos Natal contributed five kills and two blocks.

For Barnegat, Ben Fraser handed out 10 assists. Frank Buckley hammered home five kills. Greg Stevens and Justin Kovacs contributed two digs and two kills, respectively.

TR SOUTH 2, TR EAST 0: Led by Joe Esposito’s 12 assists and three blocks and Alek Purpuro’s five kills, two blocks and two aces, the visiting Indians (12-3, 7-3) bested the Raiders (1-3, 0-10) in Class A South.

Scott Stueber added five kills. MacQuade Ryan added four digs. Evan Turner paced the Raiders with seven kills and six digs. Nat Amadeo added four kills and four blocks. Jake Nicol had eight assists and four digs.

SJ VIANNEY 2, FREEHOLD 0: Chris Lionette (two kills, 15 assists, three digs) and Bryan Walsh (seven kills, two assists, five digs) carried the visiting Lancers (10-6, 7-3) past the Colonials (8-10, 2-8) in Class A North.

Tyler Dulemba added four kills and two digs. Tom Corbisiero added 15 digs. Trevor Mount led the Colonials with 11 assists, three digs and two blocks. Nick Krauss added six kills and six blocks. Bryan Pfeffer contributed eight blocks and one ace.


SOUTHERN 15, BARNEGAT 3: Tyler Lipositz scored three of his four goals in the second quarter, Brendan Mullen added three goals and five assists and Dylan Jinks had two goals and four assists as the Rams (12-0, 9-0) defeated Barnegat (7-5, 4-4) to win their second Class A South title in school history with an undefeated regular season.


TR EAST 13, SOUTHERN 12 (OT): Nicolette Faragalli scored four goals, including the game-winning goal with 31 seconds left in the third segment of overtime as the Raiders (7-4, 7-4) defeated the Rams (5-7, 5-6) in a Class A South game.

Brittany Hammell scored a game-high six goals for the Raiders. Southern’s Marina Felmly scored five goals and Lia Stango scored three goals.

OAK KNOLL 11, RUMSON 9: Senior Kelsey Cuje scored two goals, including the 100th of her career, and had one assist but the Bulldogs (9-5) fell to the Royals (10-4) in a nonconference game.

Bridget Curran led the Bulldogs with five goals and goalie Maddie Mullen made four saves.

BARNEGAT 11, MANCHESTER 10 (OT): Nicole Federovitch scored six goals, including the game-winning goal 2:37 into the first segment of overtime as the Bengals (8-5, 5-4) defeated the Hawks (6-7, 3-6) in a Class B South game.

Sydney Kacek scored four goals and Kelli Serpi scored two goals and had three assists for the Hawks.

LACEY 21, MONS. DONOVAN 10: Holly Brewster and Lauren Salemme scored seven goals each to lead the Lions (11-2, 8-2) past the Griffins (2-8, 2-8) in a Class B North game.

Seniors Meagan Collins and Shawna Ingraham each scored three goals for the Griffins.
