Senior guard Ryan Cieplenski scored six of his team-high 10 points in the fourth quarter as he helped the Brick Memorial boys basketball team to a 55-48 victory over Freehold Township on Wednesday evening.
Senior guards Mike and Matt Golden each added nine points and junior guard Mike Basile contributed eight points for the Mustangs (7-9).
Senior center John Horrigan had a game-high 18 points and also had 17 rebounds for the Patriots (9-9). Meanwhile, junior forward Chris Talbott added nine points.
OCEAN 47, JACKSON LIBERTY 42: Royal Moore’s driving layup with four minutes left in the fourth quarter put the host Spartans (9-7) ahead to stay, 38-37, in their nondivisional win over the Lions (9-8).
Moore finished with 11 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. He buried three of four free throws in the final quarter. Moore converted a one-and-one for a 45-42 lead with 30 seconds remaining. Eric Musto, who scored eight, followed with a one-and-one to make it 47-42 with eight seconds to play.
Chris Seager paced Ocean with 12 points. Musto grabbed 12 rebounds. Alex Cirlincione handed out nine assists. Dan Niblack led the Lions with 18 points, including 14 in the first half. James Sofield added 16.
TR EAST 49, BARNEGAT 41: Dave Lewis had five points and 10 rebounds and Evan Turner had four points and seven rebounds while CJ Hirschy scored a team-high nine points as the Radiers (4-12) defeated the Bengals (4-15) in a nondivisional game.
Barnegat’s Pat Zanzalari and Kyle Morris each finished with 10 points each.
ST. ROSE 54, KEANSBURG 34: Conor Leddy scored seven of his game-high 14 points in the third quarter and Dan Borner added 12 points as the Purple Roses (15-4, 9-2) defeated the Titans (9-7, 7-5) in a Class B Central game.
Keansburg junior guard Kason Preston scored a team-high 12 points.
SJ VIANNEY 69, LACEY 56: Junior guard Julanee Prince scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter and junior guard Ray Gabeau added 10 of his 15 points in third quarter as the Lancers (7-10) defeated the Lions (6-10) in a nondivisional game.
Lacey’s Chris Iapicco had 16 points.
In girls basketball
SHORE 53, LACEY 48: Gina Ruscil scored six of her 16 points in the second quarter and Emily Reiser scored six of her 12 points in the second quarter as the Blue Devils defeated the Lions in a nondivisional game.
Lacey’s Jenn Coleman had 15 points.
JACKSON LIBERTY 56, OCEAN 43: Kyasia White scored nine of her team-high 15 points in the second quarter and Courtney Titus added 14 points as the Lions (13-5) defeated the Spartans (1-15) in a nondivisional game.
Ocean’s Gianna Kinhofer scored a game-high 18 points.
BARNEGAT 41, TR SOUTH 36: Sara Ridgeway scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the second half and Samantha DeCapua added 13 of her 15 points in the first half as the Bengals (8-10) defeated the Indians (11-6) in a nondivisional game.
Toms River South’s Amanda Timmes had 11 points.
