City High traveled to central Iowa on Tuesday to compete in the Waukee Invitational.

City won two events at the 15-team invitational — the 4×200- and 4×400-meter relays. The two relays included Claire Crew, Sarah Ploeck and Kiera Washpun.

Washpun also was third in the long jump, Abby Saehler was runner-up in the high jump, and Aliayah Gustafsen was second in the shot put and discus for City.

“Our field events were very strong tonight,” City coach Tom Mittman said. “We competed well and got experience.”

Seven of the teams at the meet placed in the Top 10 at state last season.
