Haley Lorenzen scored her 1,000th point as the second-ranked City High girls basketball team beat Linn-Mar 68-46 Saturday in Marion.
Lorenzen had 18 points to finish the game right at the 1,000-point mark as well as eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Kiera Washpun had 17 points, five steals and six assists, and Courtney Joens had 16 points and four steals.
City is 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
* WASHINGTON 49, WEST BRANCH 41: The Demons finished the game with an 8-0 run to beat the Bears in West Branch.
The score was tied at 41-41 with 2:30 left to play with Washington’s pressure defense shut down West Branch.
Maddie Russell had 11 points and five rebounds for the Bears (3-3), Ashley Finnegan had 11 points and four assists, and Haley Poula had seven points and eight rebounds.
* REGINA 69, WEST LIBERTY 51: Drew Cook had 29 points and seven rebounds to lead the Regals to the win in West Liberty.
Nathan Stenger eight assists and played well on defense, Regina coach Randy Larson said.
The Regals (4-0 overall and 3-0 in the River Valley Conference) came back from a 34-29 halftime deficit.
Kyle Miller had 31 points for the Comets (1-3), Karl Guardado had 19 points, and Brett Becker had seven points.
