Class 5A volleyball teams in Fort Collins get no love in season's first poll

The four Class 5A Fort Collins teams represent the better half of the 5A Front Range League conference, as each of those four finished in the top 6 in conference.

It will take a strong effort from Poudre and Fort Collins to upend the rankings, though, as Fossil Ridge and Rocky Mountain finished 1-2 last season thanks to 10-1 league records.

Still, despite a slew of returning starters among city teams, none got any love in the CHSAANow.com preseason rankings.

Across I-25, to the east, Windsor grabbed a sixth-place ranking in 4A thanks to rich tradition and coach LaVerne Huston.

Resurrection Christian was ranked sixth in the 2A classification.

Rocky Mountain welcomes Julie Hilt to the fold as a first-year coach for the Lobos. With plenty of playing and coaching experience at the club level, Hilt looks to keep the Lobos on track this season. Will it be enough to unseat reigning conference champion Fossil Ridge? Time will tell.
